Gaia Concept The term “Gaia” encompasses a theory that all of existence is intrinsically connected and co-dependent with itself and the Earth, functioning like a single organism. This inter-dependent web of existence is kept alive through the relationships of its different parts. This simply means that the actions of one species affect all species. It is therefore our duty to treat life and the earth we inhabit with respect – as an extension of our own bodies.
At Newark Art Supply, ‘GAIA Concept’ was created to distinguish economic activities and products that support the theory described above from the status quo. At first, this will occur through the integration of some natural and hand-made art supplies in the store. Over time Newark Art Supply will gradually increase the supply of such products, making it a unique store within our region and perhaps, in the nation. Through an awareness of our own place in the web, we increase our chances of becoming reintegrated into it.
